This is Rocky, a 28" tall ceramic racoon painted by the owner's great-aunt in the 70's. He'd been in the yard ever since, and was much the worse for wear. Was brought in to have his paint re-touched and revived. Worked with the original artist's vision to re-paint and then protect it with a modern light-resistant glaze to give him many more years of guarding their pergola.
This platter showcases a watercolor technique that gives that dreamy texture to the background. I love the storybook sort of feel it gives.
This is an experiment in using both ceramic glazes and acrylic paint/glazes in the same project. The idea was to blend the two seamlessly, and it worked out very well.
Led a Paint-and-Sip at Stuffington's where we painted a cozy fall mushroom picture. The focus was working on precise strokes and layering of colors as seen in the background and hill.
This cup was a venture into a new ceramic medium. The crackle glaze is a stand-by, but using it as an under-coat to give a mosaic effect was new for me. I interpreted a historical ancient Roman mosaic warning people to Beware of Dog that still exists on The House of the Tragic Poet in Pompeii.
This wire and tape version of Pickett the Bowtruckle was built as a project we completed with the students in our Harry Potter camp at Stuffington's Ceramics and More.
This Beetlejuice-themed plate was painted in support of our Beetlejuice Beetlejuice event at Stuffington's in conjunction with the movie arriving in theaters.
This domed vase was painted to inspire attendees at Stuffington's "Word of the Year" event. Hopefully it will inspire me to remember to use this advice where it's prudent. ;)
